UP Minister calls for cartoonist's beheading, government flusteredIn a display of how dangerously intolerant and militant Islam is getting in India much like it is in the Iranian mullahcracy, an Uttar Pradesh minister has announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for beheading the Danish cartoonist who lampooned Prophet Muhammad.

Minister for Haj and Minority Welfare Haji Yaqoob Qureshi made the declaration at a massive public rally in Meerut.

Qureshi said;

Any person who chops off the head of the cartoonist from Denmark who dared to make a caricature of Muhammad Sahib and brings it to me shall be rewarded Rs 51 crore in cash and given gold equivalent to his weight.

Many in the now embarrassed government tried to distance themselves from this issue citing that Qureshi made this statement on personal capacity and has nothing to do with the government.

BJP President Rajnath Singh has asked UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for a clarification on this. He urged the minister to resign, else be suspended.

The UP government however, has ruled out action against Qureshi as the ’statement was made against someone living in a distant country’.

We don’t want to see the kinds of violence perpetrating extremist in public offices, no way.

Mulayam’s politics. Upper caste vote is slipping from him so it is just that. Thinks that it will help. It will not.
