Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Nicholas Burns said that US President George W Bush would visit India sometime in late February next year irrespective of whether the US Congress passes the nuclear deal agreement between the two countries.
It was widely anticipated that the agreement will be endorsed by the Congress by then, which will be signed between India and the US during Bush’s visit here. However, it is now unlikely that the agreement can be pushed through the Congress by then with anti-proliferation lobby doing everything to scuttle the deal citing various issues one of which is the separation of Indian military and civilian nuclear facilities.
