Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman and managing director of the Aditya Birla group, has been named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2005. Birla got the award for achieving a makeover of his group of far reaching dimensions, a media statement by E & Y said.



He received the award from Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia at a glittering banquet in Mumbai.



Kumar Mangalam Birla fully deserves the title of the Entrepreneur of the Year as he successfully charted a new course for his group, showing a five-fold growth in five years. The E & Y award justifies it and for the reasons it conferred the award to him.
