Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has decided to quit smoking. No, he hasn’t quit yet, but says that he will soon, rather he pledged so. His pledge has drawn profuse praise from non other than Union Minister for Health, Anbumani Ramadoss.
Well, if one is not mistaken, some time back, the same Mr. Ramadoss had inflicted a several blow to Indian film industry by ensuring that smoking scenes were totally out of the celluloid. And the same minister is now looking up to the glamour world to join his motivated campaign against tobacco abuse.
He has written a letter to Khan telling him that “such a public health pronouncement by a charismatic personality” like him would go a long way in weaning the youth away from tobacco. Ah ha! So what is SRK going to do about it? Let’s wait and see and I am sure it is going to be pretty interesting. Even more interesting would be to see if SRK is really going to snuff the stub for ever. We will be watching.
