At least 100 people are feared dead as a fast passenger train between Secunderabad and Repalle derailed during the early hours today where ten bogies were reportedly submerged in water after a possible breach in reservoir.

The Army has taken up operations to rescue passengers. Railway officials have confirmed the deaths of five passengers, including the train driver and 15 other passengers were injured while the fate of passengers trapped in the submerged coaches is not yet known.
The South Central Railway sought the help of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force for organizing rescue operations since the road and rail link to the area were disrupted and the area was battered by heavy rains. Railway Protection Force and Central Reserve Police Force personnel, using local boats, were trying to rescue the trapped passengers of the submerged coaches.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has rushed to the site of the accident.
